Why Woman's Winter Gathering?
Sisters...winter can be a time of feeling isolated and alone causing extra stress and anxiety. As a result, good relationships can suffer and already strained relationships can become even more difficult. We decided to call all of our sisters in faith together for a time of fellowship; personal devotional and prayer time; rediscovering simple ways to reconnect with our spouses, children, and grandchildren; giving our heartfelt prayers to God in a very tangible way for our human heart; enjoying a delicious winter charcuterie board; sharing home baked bread and cheese...and to give everything a cozy feel...a nice cup of hot tea.
Sound interesting? We would love for you to join us. There's no charge, but we ask that you register below so we know how to plan.
Here's what will be happening -
The Gathering Room (Main level)
This special space will be filled with warmth from the fireplace and a delicious winter charcuterie board on the old pine cupboard. A hot tea station will be available to make your favorite tea to sip as you enjoy your time with us. There will be plenty of seating and time for conversation. Host Shelly Thompson, owner of the building and Director of The Notebook Cafe will have plenty of time to interact and visit with guests. Bring a friend with you, or meet new friends. The Gathering Room has hosted many women since 2017 and the Holy Spirit has touched countless hearts and answered many prayers lifted in The Gathering Room. You'll find warmth, food, fellowship, and a time to relax and just be with sisters.

The Boarding Room Kitchen (Upper level)
Joining us in The Boarding Room Kitchen will be Anita McVey. A Midwest farmer's daughter who grew up in northwest Iowa, Anita is a food blogger and the author of the cookbook devotional, 'Because He First Fed Us'. She will offer a sampling of her beer bread and cheese, and heart Kringla. Anita will be available for questions on gathering around the table. Enjoying the comfort of food can soften conversation and emotion. Praying at the beginning of the time spent gathered for food invites God to join us. Even if those we are with are not believers, or have hard hearts. As Anita states in her book...cooking is love made visible. Food is a love language. It nourishes, heals, comforts, and delights the body and the soul. Food is love in action. All the senses are engaged; sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell. Memories are revived. Stories are told. Gratitude is expressed. Conversations flow and wisdom is gleaned. God created a garden even before mankind. God was preparing a meal for us before we even arrived. You'll want to meet and talk to Anita to gain her insight into faith and food.

The Prayer Chapel
Many women have asked what it's like to pray in the sweet 1875 bank vault we call 'Esther's Tea Room'. On this day, it will be converted to our little Prayer Chapel. We'll have candles to help you listen for God. You can have prayer time alone, or with a friend you bring who needs a sister praying for her. If there's a specific time you want to use the little Prayer Chapel, please email [email protected] with your name and time request. Otherwise, it will be on an available basis that day. Please feel free to bring your journal to the Prayer Chapel. If you need someone to pray with you, we will take care of that.

Iron Sharpens Iron
Tim Branan, Owner and Blacksmith at Branan Ornamental Iron (directly across the street from our building) has forged very special nails with selected scripture addresses. These were specifically made by Tim for our event. Tim will also be doing a LIVE Iron Forging Demonstration that day from 1:00 - 2:00. You can see how the nails were formed that crucified Christ and relive the hammering of the nails into the cross. The Bible tells us iron sharpen iron and this will be a time of gratitude for all that God has done through His Son and remind us His promises are true and we can trust Him...no matter what is going on around us.

Their Prayers Reached Heaven His Holy Dwelling Place
In 2 Chronicles 30:27 scripture tells us 'The priests and the Levites stood to bless the people, and God heard them, for their prayer reached heaven, his holy dwelling place.' For the past two years, The Notebook Cafe has held a woman's retreat 'A November to Remember - A Branson Christmas' in Branson. One of the highlights is always the Sycamore Log Church. It's a small log church that's nestled in the Ozark Mountains. It's congregation has some of the most faithful prayer warrior's. Our women's group holds our own little service in that precious sanctuary and it's always a high point of the trip for first time visitors and those who are returning. This past November, we wrote Christmas miracle prayers (anonymously) then placed them together and prayed over them in that beautiful log sanctuary as a group. The slips of paper containing the prayers were then handed off to the church, who prayed over them that Sunday. They then burned them and scattered the ashes on the mountain....for God to bless because as scripture tells us...He heard them and they reached heaven His Holy dwelling place. In the next few weeks following our Women's Winter Gathering, itwill be an honor for Shelly to take your prayers to that sanctuary in the Ozark Mountains and pray with the congregation over them and scatter them on the Ozark mountains.

A Time of Reflection and Devotion
We have created a small devotional that you will receive as you walk through the upper level Boarding Rooms. Each room has a specific devotional theme to open your heart and help you listen for God's words as you take your time walking through the 149-year-old year old historic bank building. A building is a survivor, still standing strong after a fire burned down every other building on that side of the street...except the bank building. It was the first fire proof building build in the Midwest, with bricks specially created in Walnut. The peace that flows through the building is amazing. You'll enjoy taking your time to take everything in as you read each Boarding Room Devotion we've prepared.

The Woman's Winter Gathering has been designed to give you time, space, fellowship, and prayer to hear from God and be encouraged in your relationships with your spouse, children, grandchildren, and to lift them in prayer for strength and a hedge of protection as we see our nation under enemy attack. We have a Father, who is the King of the Universe. He is faithful and He is watching...at the appointed time, our Dad will rise up and shut the mouths of lions for His kids.
