The Gathering Room

Gathering is a time of laughter, celebration, recalling memories that have brought joy over the years, and a time of creating that special time together our hearts often yearn for. But what if...there's no place to gather? Not everyone wants to tidy up their house to have girlfriends over, many don't have space, or maybe a good central location is needed to gather. That's why we created unique spaced in our 1875 historical bank building. We offier space for women to gather in a relaxing and quiet atmosphere, with warm and inviting decor (you might even get a few decorating ideas!)...we think you'll find the perfect place...to gather.
The Gathering Room and Upstairs Boarding Room Kitchen
Gather your friends and meet up in The Gathering Room or the Upstairs Boarding Room kitchen. Every piece of this special building has been prepared to take you back into days gone by. You and your friends can sit around our 10’ farmhouse table, gather by the fire on our comfy couch and chairs, or enjoy the Upstairs Boarding Room kitchen where meals were prepared. Our 6’ 1800’s general store table is a treasure to sit and have coffee, or enjoy brunch or lunch.
We also offer tours of our 1875 restored boarding rooms. You’ll find so much to look at during our boarding room tours. It's always a highlight for our guests. During the holidays, we're all decorated!
We offer a space to enjoy coffee and visiting with your friends. Or, our breakfast charcuterie boards, or warm cinnamon roll cupcakes are always popular. We can serve lunch including ‘Esther’s Chicken Salad’…and we always have pie! It was a family favorite. Our special is coffee and pie right out of the oven $7 per person.
We would love to host your group of friends, Bible Study, book club, Birthday party, or anything else you need a unique and special place to gather for coffee, a brunch or lunch, or for a special event.
We can also do an evening time for you with a candlelight tour. Perfect this Christmas!
We've had the pleasure of hosting friends who find Walnut is a central meeting place between Des Moines and Omaha, We've had woman celebrating cancer free results, Bible Studies, groups of girl friends and coworkers, Birthday celebrations, and small professional business groups.. It's a great meet up place for friends for just catching up! We've loved every minute of seeing the joy and hearing the laughter of the women who gather in our space.
If you're looking for a place to gather...we've got the perfect space. We would love to host your small group, or large group! There's no charge to use The Gathering Room or the Upstairs Boarding Room Kitchen, we just ask that you purchase your beverage through our little coffee shop in our lobby. You'll love our lattes, coffee, teas, and gourmet hot cocoa.
