You're cordially invited to attend our recreation of the beloved Younker's Tea Room at The Cafe in Walnut on April 1st from 11:00 - 12:30. You'll enjoy a vintage style show, courtesy of True Junk, while you are served lunch. We'll roll out the Younker's red carpet of hospitality while giving a brief presentation on the highlights of Younker's founded in 1856 by three of the Younker's brothers. We also have a few pieces of Younker's memorabilia including one of the mannequin's used at Younker's in downtown Des Moines in the women's clothing department, with the shipping box and label!

We've selected items for our luncheon menu that the Tea Room menu was well known for - fresh fruit cup, chicken salad, and gourmet brownie. You'll enjoy these menu items along with tea or coffee, and of course...the vintage style show!

Younker's installed 'Electric Stairs' in their downtown Des Moines location in 1939. It was the first escalator in Iowa.
Join us on April 1st as we recreate the Younker's Tea Room in The Cafe in Walnut with vintage style show, luncheon from Younker's menu, memorabilia from Younker's, and a brief presentation on the history of one of Iowa's most iconic department stores.
