We're OPEN by Appointment until Millie's Market Days in April 2026
Where open select times throughout the year. You can find many of our items on sale on our Facebook page. We ship all over the United States.
We love to open our doors by appointment. Due to our travel schedule and my writing schedule (you can find my latest journal series, The 1895 Hinckley Boarding House Journals by clicking here), we're open limited times throughout the year, but we absolutely love to open by appointment when we're available.
When you enter our 151-year-old doors, you find staged displays, perfectly worn original wood floors, 16' ceilings, and vintage finds brought back from my travels that make the 151-year-old bank feel alive again. There are treasures tucked into every nook. Every detail has been done with our guests in mind. We love welcoming customers in our historical bank building.
We’re traveling more backroads and thoughtfully selecting vintage treasures, opening our doors for Millie’s Market Days on select days so each visit feels special, and welcoming customers by appointment other times when available.
We truly love our historic 1875 bank, where you’ll notice time seems to slow just enough for you to savor the moments. Leisurely browse the shop with a warm beverage from our coffee bar, letting the charm of old walls and well‑loved treasures surround you.
Sit. Relax. Share stories and conversation. You can reserve The Gathering Room and be served brunch, or lunch before or after you explore the shop.
Just like you, every vintage piece has a story. If you’re looking for a place to sit, chat, and share a few stories with a friend, while enjoying a fun shopping experience, we'll happily guide you to the perfect spot to linger for a while in The Gathering Room, or to the restored 1875 bank vault, now transformed into Esther’s Tea Room for Two, a quiet little haven tucked inside history itself.
The story continues outside our door.
Walnut’s Main Street continues the story, lined with vintage and antique shops nestled in beautifully preserved buildings. On many days, the museum or the old one‑room schoolhouse opens its doors, offering a deeper glimpse into the town’s past. You might even find the town blacksmith forging amazing iron works just across the street.
And if the outdoors calls to you, Lake Prairie Rose is just fifteen minutes away, with peaceful views, seasonal rental cabins, fishing, and camping beneath wide Iowa skies.
Of course…some of the best discoveries often happen off the beaten path. So take the back roads, enjoy the quiet stretches of countryside, and let the drive become part of the adventure. There’s something about the winding, scenic route…a treasure you didn’t even know you needed.
Tip…stay for the sunsets..there’s nothing quite like a Walnut sunset, where the horizon glows and the day lingers just a little longer.
“Shop, relax, and leave with a story that becomes your own.”
