From Salvage to Star
This sweet dresser was in a garage sale for next to nothing. She was an unloved and unwanted piece of furniture. The garage sale hosts even had her hidden in a corner. If she didn't get a buyer...she would be headed for the garbage. They were moving and didn't have time to salvage anything. I knew I had to save this piece. My husband helped me get her all loaded up in the truck and she was homebound. My original intent was to fix her up and sell her, but she has become the star of my staging for photos. Her white chippy look, with words I added to give her more character make her a perfect back drop for any type of decor. She has starred in Facebook LIVES, many photo sessions, and this sweet piece stores many of my crafting supplies. Her drawers are full of treasures vintage seamstress tapes, buttons, collected old photos, ribbon, vintage mail pieces, letters from games...you name it...she's the holder.
I staged her a couple of different ways for the cover, which I'll share below. Hopefully, this will inspire you when you see a vintage piece, to get it and repurpose it the way you like it. If you already have collected one of these gems, perhaps this will motivate you to get busy with your repurpose plan.
These projects are so much work, but the end result is always amazing. Repurposing items from the past is always rewarding and worth the effort.
So...which cover would you have chosen for the November issue of 'For your Heart and Home?'
