The Hunt!
When you're on 'the hunt', there are two ways you know you needed exactly what you've found -
You were looking for it and FINALLLY found it! You're elated that the long search for the treasured item has come to an end. Or, this is the most common way...the second method...IT FINDS YOU! That means the item caught your attention and you have to buy it, and you didn't even know that you were hunting for it!
Our shoppers at Millie's Vintage & Home Decor are THE BEST! Sure, it's great to sell your merchandise, but if you're in this business for the right reason...you like to match the item with the perfect person. Kind of 'match making' in a way. You've hunted and found treasures and now...you'll see who loves them as much as you. There's a lot of time and care that goes into selecting items for our shop.
I love it when someone leaves and they are over-the-moon with their purchase, because then they tell me why they are buying it, what it means to them, and the treasure now has come full circle...it's leaving with a story on a journey to a new home.
Some people talk to plants...I talk to my merchandise. No, it's never talked back. Yet.
I think you'll enjoy seeing some of the fun and unique finds that our shoppers have found recently. They might get pictured just because they were so amazingly kind, as our customers are. No purchase necessary to have fun, or get photographed at Millie's. We like making memories on our old 147-year-old original bank wood floors. And, I think by the way they creak...they don't mind a bit!

These ladies are CHAMPS! They were Early Bird Shoppers, arriving at 9:00 to have the whole store to themselves, music, and complimentary coffee. They were awesome and had so much fun!
OK! What I love about this photo...these two ladies don't even know each other. They both shop at my stores and I know them. They don't even live in the same town...yet, here they are, enjoying coffee and conversation and stories. THIS is what having a small shop is about. Meeting people and letting them enjoy the space! Miss Cindy on the right did leave with a FOUND IT though, she bought the most amazing small green chippy ice cream freezer! I hated to see it leave, but it went to a good home!
I don't know if these two Texan's found what they were exactly looking for, but they found the STATE OF IOWA! They came up all the way from Texas, just to visit Walnut! They did find that sweet jug to add to her collection!

She found it! The sweet lady on right had been looking for a small chair for a space in her home and she loved green! Perfect match!
This sweet couple was just passing through and loved the building. They enjoyed a coffee and we took their photo in our 1875 restored bank vault...now Esther's Tea Room...perfect for 2 (or 3).
They found it! This couple had been looking for something above their fireplace. They have done, and are still doing, an extensive remodel. I got to see the photos! Then, we discovered that we knew people in Highland Park and,...we were instant friends.
This family brought Dad in for Father's Day. They loved the building and decided to take a photo in Esther's Tea Room to create a memory! What a great Dad...I do think, the ladies might have gotten a little more joy shopping than Dad :)

These two ladies were SO FUN! Things found them in the shop! Fun and unique things that they loved, plus an awesome shirt!
Found it! Well, it wasn't exactly what they were looking for, but...it was coming up on this sweet ladies 50th Birthday. She was born in '73! These vintage gas station pump numbers were perfect to place in her house to celebrate 50!
These sweet gals were having a blast in Walnut! They made a few purchases and beverages. It was so fun because one of them had graduated with my daughter! We texted her the picture! So much fun!
They found it! I am not sure they were looking for it, but it was one of my favorites. They are restoring an area and this old Hardware Store window was exactly what they were looking for. It was hard to see this one leave. I always thought it would end up in my own home, but it's making a new story with these sweet people!
