As our weather has seen some cooler days, our customers have loved coming in and getting a hot cup of coffee, tea, or one of our gourmet hot cocoa's and enjoying their beverage as they browse the shop. We also converted our 1875 cathedral ceiling bank vault into a place that they can go in and sit down and have tea-for-two (or three). It's not huge, but Esther's Tea Room named after my mom, has been a fun place for visitor's (click here for more about Esther's Tea Room). It's always love seeing there reaction when they are handed a warm delicious, steaming beverage. You can do that same thing in your home making your coffee bar area as simple or as elegant as you want.
While you don't have to love coffee to LOVE coffee bars, these sweet areas in homes are definitely inviting, offer convenience to the host, reflect the occupants of the home style, and absolutely say 'Welcome'. One of the best things about creating a coffee bar, is there is no set design rules. Your space may be limited requiring you to create a small coffee bar, or you may have enough room that you can create a home cafe. Either way, planning a coffee bar in your home is a fun project! You can tailor the size to suit your needs, and the cost can be minimal...but, you'll love feeling like you have a home cafe. Of course, coffee doesn't have to be the only thing brewing, you can have tea, hot cocoa, and a few items to snack on such as fruit, Biscotti, or shortbreads. According to coffeeholic, these are the main types of home coffee bars or stations.
The Counter Coffee Station.
You can style your own coffee station right on your own kitchen counter! If your counter is small, use a base, like a tray, to put all your coffee essentials in a group to decrease clutter. You can also add a shelf above your coffee machine to place cups, coffee, and other essentials. However, if your counter is large, simply arrange your station in a way that expresses your individuality. You could add a coffee pot, unique cups, and whatever you like. Also, consider using a coffee station table!
Carts and Side Tables.
Using a side coffee station table or cart is great. They allow you to contain your coffee stand to a particular area creating a coffee station nook in your kitchen. Moreover, a large or medium sized kitchen can easily handle a rolling coffee bar created from a kitchen island on wheels. This can be fantastic if you are entertaining guests and want to display all the coffee making gadgets you use to make a great cup of coffee.
Customized home coffee bars.
Customize your coffee station by creating a special cabinet to place all your coffee necessities. A customized coffee station is a great idea. You can close the station when it is not in use; thereby, making your kitchen appear less cluttered. There are many ways to customize a coffee space, built in cabinets and shelves with swing doors or a type of opaque roller blinds work too. You can have lights fitted at the top of your nook or use a lamp.
Coffee bar shelf.
A coffee bar shelf is something you should really pay attention to. Your whole coffee bar station idea depends on the shelf you are going to choose. So if it is a vintage one, this will create a vintage essense that is quite trendy these days. However, there are other coffee bar shelf options out there. Coming in different colors and sizes and shapes, you will have a lot to choose from.
