It's Christmas at
The Gathering Room

The Gathering Room

We love gathering.

The Gathering Room has been busy this season with Birthday celebrations, friends gathering and meeting for coffee and pie, lunches and brunches, and tours of our 1875 bank building!

Gathering for women is usually a time of laughter, celebration, recalling again memories that have brought joy over the years, and a time of creating that special 'sisterhood' our hearts often yearn for. But what if...there's no place to gather? Not everyone wants to tidy up their house to have girlfriends over, and many don't have space, or maybe a good central location is needed to gather. That's why we created The Gathering Room in our 1875 historical bank building. Our Gathering Room offers space for 10 to 14 women in a relaxing and quiet atmosphere, with warm and inviting decor (you might even get a few decorating ideas!)...we think it's the perfect place...to gather. Guests can also enjoy our Boarding Room Kitchen.

It has been wonderful hearing how women are loving The Gathering Room . Many have shared their stories with me...that means a lot.  We've had the pleasure of hosting small professional women's groups, friends who find Walnut is a central meeting place between Des Moines and Omaha, one woman celebrating cancer free results, groups of high school friends and coworkers, Birthday celebrations, Bible Studies, and we've loved every minute of seeing the joy and hearing the laughter of the women who gather in our space.

We've also hosted some events including our Church Ladies Apron Devotions and our Flower vase classes. These have been enjoyed and friendships established.

We invite you to gather your friends and meet up in one of the unique spaces in our 1875 bank building. We offer The Gathering Room or the Upstairs Boarding Room kitchen. Every piece of this special building has been prepared to take you back to days gone by.

You and your friends can sit around our 10’ farmhouse table, gather by the fire on our comfy couch and chairs, or enjoy the Upstairs Boarding Room kitchen. Our 6’ 1800’s general store table is a treasure to sit and have coffee, or enjoy brunch or lunch.

You’ll find so much to look at during our boarding room tours.

We offer a space to enjoy coffee and visiting with your friends. Or, our breakfast charcuterie boards, or warm cinnamon roll cupcakes are always popular. We can serve lunch including ‘Esther’s Chicken Salad’…and we always have pie! It was a family favorite.

We would love to host your group of friends, Bible Study, book club, Birthday party, or anything else you need a unique and special place to gather for coffee, a brunch or lunch, or for a special event.

We always include a tour of our 1875 boarding rooms! They’re all decorated for Christmas now!

We can also do an evening time for you with a candlelight tour. Perfect this Christmas!

Click here to contact us and make a reservation…we guarantee…you’ll love it!
