The Notebook Café

The Notebook Cafe -- Inspired Words for the Journey is an online cafe brewing up words of inspiration and encouragement to equip us for this journey. Shelly Thompson is the Publisher of The Notebook Cafe and coauthor of the recent book release, Entwined by The Notebook Cafe & Co. Publishing. Shelly has a passion for writing what God places in her heart. Taking a giant leap of faith she left the corporate world to pursue a dream God gave her of developing a monthly inspirational faith based online reading café. Today, The Notebook Café reaches almost 30,000 people each month. She has found the road in unknown territory is not always easy, BUT GOD always finds a way to bring about what He has promised. Shelly has also developed The Notebook Cafe Annual Woman's Conference each October. She lives in Des Moines, Iowa, with her husband. They spend time with their parents, three daughters, seven grandlittles, and many weekends working on home renovation projects…that thankfully never seem to end.

I don't know what's going on in your life right now...what circumstance you are walking in BUT GOD does. He sees where the journey has brought you and where it's going. He is the Alpha and the Omega...His breath spoke the universe into existence...He turns discarded ashes into beautiful testimonies of faith...He's always working...bringing things together for His purpose and glory...no matter what we can humanly see. God sees...the hurting people...the depth of their pain...raw emotions...the despair that threatens to overtake them...the enemy flooding their thoughts...

I wish I could say to each of them, 'Courage, dear heart...' BUT GOD sees and His plans...regardless of what you can see...will not be stopped. His son's death proved His great love for you. Do not be dismayed or discouraged, for it IS the Lord who fights for you. Pray without ceasing...BUT GOD is making all things new...'Courage, dear heart...'

God sees days and years of heartbreak...the brokenness of poor choices...words of blame...promises unkept...lives the enemy is trying to destroy...

'Courage, dear heart...'

God sees the enemies lies filtrating minds...deception tearing apart families...words ripping apart hearts...trust destroyed...uncountable tears falling...

'Courage, dear heart...'

God sees the brokenness of humanity...the loss of hope...hearts seeking understanding...anguish unseen...the strength to whisper only partial prayers...

'Courage, dear heart...'

God sees the loneliness of the 'not good enough'...the sadness of betrayal...the lepers on the corners...those neglected in the shadows...

'Courage, dear heart...'

God sees those mourning the loss of a loved one...feeling an emptiness that has no words...a loss that is unspeakable...struggling to breathe at the grave site...

'Courage, dear heart...'

God sees the devastation of drugs...the destruction of families...the end of plans made by parents since birth...the power of addiction...the guilt placed heavily on the shoulders by the enemy...

'Courage, dear heart...'

God sees the children...wanting with all their heart kind words from a parent...a moment of praise...an opportunity to know they are completely loved, wanted, and matter...to feel cherished by someone...

'Courage, dear heart...'

God sees the lies at the bottom of the empty bottle......accompanied by swallows of regret...a heart full of doubt and insecurity...a life adrift being wasted...nothing left...without a future...

'Courage, dear heart...'

God sees the patient who knows no cure...the treatment that isn't working...the waiting room...the hospital...the hospice bed...the Alzheimer's unit...

'Courage, dear heart...'

BUT GOD...

We simply pray...

BUT GOD...

Our courage, dear heart...will not be found in anyone...BUT GOD...

The Bible does not promise us an easy journey through this life. In fact, it's the opposite. We are to be armed ready for battle. We are to prepare for the war. We are to fight in the strength of God. We are to believe in what we cannot see. We are to know God is working all things for the good of those who love Him according to His purpose.

'Courage, dear heart...'

God is doing so much we do not know. Working in ways we cannot see or understand. Life is hard. Be strong for the weakest of these. Pray without ceasing. Do not grow weary as the enemy wants...for it is the Lord who fights for us. He does not slumber or sleep. He knows the very hairs on our head. He is our ever present help...He sees all. Nothing is hidden from His sight. He's the only reason...

When things make no sense...and uncertainty surrounds us...and hope is faltering...and there seems to be no way...we can say...

Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD. Psalm 31:24

'Courage, dear heart...'  ❤️
